So guys what's a decent optic choice for hunting purposes my 44 magnum has slowly destroyed two handgun scopes, the second was the replacement from the factory for the first one.
Thank you if anyone would like to chime in.

Hunting purposes under 100 yards? I'd go with an Ultradot red dot scope.

Expensive Alternative: Aimpoint.

Lightweight Option: Bushnell TRS25 mini-red-dot. I have this on my 7.5" S&W 629 Light hunter and it's good enough to deliver a 4" group at 100 yards and sub 2" at 50 yards. Having said that, remember to use blue loctite on the main screw. I launched mine about 15 yards under recoil because I let the TRS25 get loose. It still worked fine but I had to find a replacement screw.

For under 100 yards I've found a red dot works best for my eyes.

Regards,

Robert

An Ultradot 30 weighs 4 oz. and it will take a beating like no other optic in my humble opinion. The low asking price and the lifetime warranty are just icing on the cake.

Like others have mentioned, the Ultra Dot is a very good option. I'm using the Match Dot II on a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in .44 Mag. The red dot is much appreciated for these aging eyes and I've never experienced a problem with this optic.

Bushnell 2-6X ELITE (not trophy). Has survived my .454s and .500s for a long time.

Thanks Guys,
I've been looking at the Ultra-dot but not sure if I like a red dot vs. the cross hairs.
I have a little more time to think on it before I need to be set for this hunting season. The weight might be the ultimate decision, always helps when hiking far into the woods.

Keep in mind that there is no magnification with the red dot.

I stuck an Ultra Dot 30mm on my .480 Ruger SRH and really like it. To my eyes, the red dot is eaiser to deal with than cross-hairs at revolver distances.

The revolver is custom built by Gary Reeder. 6" barrel, free-wheeling cylinder, chambered in 510 GNR (short 500 Linebaugh). Cherry laminated grips on a Gunfighter grip frame. A mild load of 4227 will push a 385 gr. WFNGC to 1220 fps. Very accurate.
