I was thinking about switching from the 240 grn. SP's to the 250 grn. "Partition Gold" round for my 4" S&W (Mtn. Gun). The SP's have worked fine for the little deer locally and as a backup for wild pigs, but I was wondering about their effectiveness on black bears (ample penetration, weight retention, etc.).

When ever I think that I might run into a bear I load up my SRH with heavy, hard, cast bullets. I have always felt that I wanted penetration instead of expansion. I have heard though that the Partition Golds recommended as a good bullet for large heavy animals. For what it's worth. Slim
