The weight, velocity and energy figures put it about on a par with the warmer factory loads in .44 Magnum. It's based on the FTX bullet that's advertised as "controlled expansion" "flat trajectory" for tubular magazines.

I'd guess it's more or less similar performance to their XTP but intended for lever guns. Don't know what the point would be for handguns unless you're carrying a lever gun too and want one load for both.

I have 2 boxes of the 44 mags, but have not tried them because of the very poor performance I experienced with them in 308 marlin express.

I shot a 160lb pig, at 40 yards, just slightly quartering toward me, at 40 yards with the Hornady 225 Lever Evolution out of a Winchester 44 Mag Trapper.

At the shot the ig seemed to be slammed to the ground. He kicked two or three times and that was it.

The bullet penetrated to the off side and exanded well.

I think it did a very good job, the pig never took a step.

However I would not use them it I was walking up pigs, for that I want a good penetrater.

Hornady shows them as good for revolver and rifle.

I have been shooting the 200 grain out of a 14 inch Contender 357 Herrett. They are really accurate out of my barrel. My pistol produces 1970 FPS but don't know how they would work on meat as I have only shot paper so far.

I have used the 325 grain 50 caliber Leverevolution bullet in my 6" F/A in 50AE on a couple of whitetails and have had good results. Both were taken behind the shoulder in the heart lung area. The last one was shot at about 80 yds and did the typical jump back-kick at the shot. The deer ran about 35-40 yds and piled up. The shot was angled down high on the left side (treestand shot)as the deer was angling slightly away. Bullet took out top of left lung, main arteries/vessel just above the heart and just caught front of right lung before exiting off side and then striking right front leg.
I haven't shot anything heavier than deer, but think they would perform well on larger game depending on shot placement.

my brother took a buffalo with the .44 mag rounds. worked pretty well, would be dynamite on deer.
