a couple of nights ago there was a ringing of my back door bell..... i went to see who it was an the neighbor's cute little teen age daughter was there....she said there was a racoon in her dogs house.. so i said well leave him be and he'l leave.....she no he's scratching and biting my dog! so i ok that changes things....i come in and got my 6" model 27,dropped some shot loads in the cylinder and followed her over to her house.... sure enough he was inside the dog house and he was pissed..... we tried to shake him out and bang the back of the dog house to get him out but he wouldn't leave.... just sat in there an growled and carried on....since he refused to leave i had one of her friends hold the light on him and put a load of #2 shot into his heart lung area followed by another one trying to get him down as fast as possible.. he was still fighting pretty good so i hit him again in the vitals... then a quick shot to his head....he had soaked up a lot of shot but he was not moving and her dog was safe again.......i kinda hated to take out the coon but the risk to the dog seemed to out weigh saving a pissed off coon at the time....

(while in high school)I got up in the middle of the night to find a HUGE coon in the chicken coop. I went out with a light and my 44 cap and ball revolver(kept it loaded in my closet). I hit him in the chest 4 out of the 6 shots and he was still going. I ran back into the house and came out with a shotgun. He had made it out of the chicken coop and about 50yds across the yard by the time I got back out and finished him off. I couldn't believe how hard he was to put down.
