I'v got an S&W 460 xvr revolver, and i want to bye me a scope for fun and hunting.
Have looked at Leupold 2x and Nikon Monarch 2x.
Witch one is the best choise?
Will the Nikon scope handle the recoil from this cal.? I now that the Leupold will.
Was thinking of Warne scope mount base and rings.

God dag Tomsky,

I had a Bushnell Trophy scope on my Encore 460 S&W Magnum and it didn't last long. I don't know about Nikon. The 2X Leupold scope I'm currently using is working fine still; I'd go with the Leupold since they don't have as many excuses when it comes to warranty service.

A couple of other pieces of advice; mount the scope so the front part of the adjustment turret abuts the forward ring and, if possible, use at least a 3 ring system to mount the scope. Also be sure to Loctite the screws that hold the base on.

I am using a Bushnell 2x6X32 on my 460 Mag, holding up real good, over 500 rounds fired.

If you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.

I just sold a leupold vx3 2.5x8 that I took off my 460xvr. I prefer it without the scope.. that gun is heavy enough, but I am using it for hunting.

Ive got a brand new Weigand base mount and warne rings that Ill sell to ya for 70 shipped if ya want them.. the base mount is awesome, really high quality.

I have a Aimpoint 9000sc 2x 2moa on mine with a warne base and quick release rings that is working out really well so far. But, as a previous poster stated as well, I prefer the .460 with open sights which makes the warne base a good choice for my needs.

Over 100 yard groundhogs hate my Aimpoint Wink

I had a Leu M8-2x E.E.R. mounted on my FA .454 Casull. It gave me no trouble what-so-ever and not once did it change POI through a couple of thousand shots. Having said that, I did feel a bit limited during the first and last minutes of legal hunting light and at ranges beyond 75 yds. I recently replaced it with a Leu VX-III 2.5-8x32. This scope is much brighter and I feel it is more in line with the firearm's capabilities. Not to mention, being my only hunting firearm, the addition of a more powerful variable scope increased its versatility somewhat. It did however, negatively affect the overall balance of the gun, which will take some getting use to.

Praise be to the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
