7.5 FK Field Pistol
I just saw this in the most recent Sports Afield. It was the first I've heard of this. Does anyone have real experience with this round?

7.5 FK

Looks like a 10mm necked down to 7.5mm. Could be a real ass-kicker!

It looks like it has a lot of potential.

I saw it too, if there is one in Dallas, I bet it's at Ray's. I'll be checking tomorrow (only because they are closed today).

103-grain bullet at 2000. Hmm. That's .30 Carbine country, nothing special.

A 30 carbine will not do 2000fps out of a 6 inch barrel.

conversely, the 30 carbine is actually just a big pistol -- its kind of neat to me

P dog, that may well be the case, but the 7.5 has similar or slightly inferior ballistics to the .30 carbine, which a lot of folks find fairly useless in the game fields. I'm just pointing out the phenomenon of how we get all chuffed about a pistol doing something we consider anemic in a rifle. As an ex-.30 Herrett Contender shooter, I'm guilty of this myself.

That is the case with any pistol caliber compare to rifle calibers.

i like the 30 carbine concept - and I usually shoot a peep sighted rifle better than a pistol --- then again, i haven't ever noticed a carbine that was anything accurate past a range --

i'd have this, i think, when i get back to hunting with an autoloader

Yes, the concept is interesting.

But comparing it to .44 Magnum is not right. Strictly, the muzzle energy could be the same, but that is all.

Pistol round really comparable to .44 could be .460 Rowland, but not any .30 cal with the half of the bullet weight.

Performance wise it looks like a magnum 30 Tokarev.
I also noticed the serial # of the pistol in the add was # 1 so I doubt there are many floating around to check out.

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship
