I just checked out the double tap ammo site and was literally amazed at some of the velocities reported. I am thinking about purchasing the 165 and 180 gr 40 s&w loads. I currently have a sig p239 and glock 22. I am not worried about using the ammo in the sig, but am kinda leery about using in the glock, although I replaced the factory barrel with a KKM. Anyone shot double tap loads through a glock? Also, has anyone tried their heavier 357 mag loads? Thanks.

I've shot a full 50 round box of their hot 200 gr 40 S&W "trail load" through my Glock 23 with no problems whatsover. It is a great round and I always carry a full hi-capacity mag when in the woods. If I remember correctly it's about 450 ft pounds energy out of a 4 inch barrel - not bad for a .40!

There's a long discussion at GlockTalk that is worth a look:
Double Tap Ammo

If you Google "Doubetap Ammo Reviews" you will get a bunch more hits. Here's a good one for the 10mm:

RANGE REPORT: DOUBLE TAP 10MM AMMO

The general consensus is that it is HOT, but very good stuff. The manufacturer gets his velocities from special powders and careful research, not super-high chamber pressures. I wouldn't use it for daily practice, that is for sure.

Molar1,
The owner at double tap,Mike, developed all of his loads around the glock. He originally started with the glock 20, as he is a 10mm nut. All of his velocities are basically shot out of glocks when testing. I have been shooting alot of his ammo over the last 2 1/2 years and never had a problem with any of it.His powder does not create any excessive pressures so you should not have any worries. Did you notice that he now has a 500 S&W magnum load that will get 3028 ft. lbs out of their standard 8 3/8" barrel. They are great to shoot and a real eye opener.

Mike had loads for stock Glock barrels and loads for OEM barrels, before he started DoubleTap.

I think he had a KKM for his 10mm.

You could write him.
He is a nice guy.

Times have changed in the 7 years since he started working up those atomic loads.

Glocktalk moderators have put an end to differing points of view at THAT site.

They have a lot of interesting loads (both handgun and rifle) that I'm eager to to try out. Has anyone tried their 400-grain Casull loads?
