Have any of you had experience with the Millett red dot optics? I have two of them, both on rifles - .223 and .22. I do not get a crisp clear dot, kind of like a stringy looking dot. I also have two UltraDots and they are fine.

A chap told me my glasses causes that with the Milletts. Any remarks?

I called Millett and they said to send them back for repair, if needed. But if that is to be expected I won't bother....

Haven't played with Millets at all, but I get a clear and crisp dot from my Ultradot. But what really sells me on the Ultradot is the absolute abuse I have heaped on mine and it hasn't missed a beat.

I have both. If you crank up the intensity say to 10, then the cheaper red dots will get bigger and hourglass shaped and fuzzy round the edges, while the Ultradot will stay round.

I have a Millett and I am going to say it looks axactly like my Ultradot.It is either a clone or made by the same company.

I have both and either the Millett is made by Ultradot or is a clone.

i can also attest to the abuse the ultradot can handle while have no experience with milldot my only other red dot is an older luepy that has also taken alot of punishment

Millett went back today....will report.

Since Millet is made by Bushnell, I expect you will get good service. If not, send it to me and I will take it personally to the repair center and rag at them. It is about 1/2 mile from my house.

A Millet is not the same as Ultra Dot. The front prism is just glued in with cheap glue and will pull loose under recoil. They need turned up high to see the dot. They are fine for light recoil.
I have had the cheap Bushnell red dots pull the front glass.
You need to spend a heck of a lot of money to beat the Ultra Dot.

bought an altradot on whitworth's recomendation on an earlier thead. glad i did, works way better for me than a scope at this point.

I've got a Bushnell Trophy Red dot and it has
held up quite well. Had it on 45/70 and my 480.
The rings on the other hand didn't fair so well.

The Milletts are fairly cheap but provide some good features. Have seen them fold up in military service, don't know if that's too harsh to compare.

It's just hard to beat the Ultradot at the price they are offered. I have been very unkind to my Ultradot 30 with regards to recoil (and other stuff) and it just keeps coming back for more.

help me out here. I was going to order the Ultra
Dot for my Ruger SRH today. Which one ?? It seems the Tasco which measures 1". The tube sizes are what are confusing me. they are in MM"S. I called Ruger they said I have 1' rings. (i talked to ultra dot's customer service, a woman had no clue } thanks..... I looked @ the 30mm but woman said i have to change mounts

One inch is 25mm -- so you can get the Ultradot 25. I personally prefer the larger field of view of the 30mm unit -- the Ultradot 30.

i personally agree with marko on the 30 but one of my friends using a 25 on his shotgun and not much noticable difference.If dead set on using 1" rings buy the 25

I think its my eyes but i dont see a clean crisp dot in any redot. Not even my high dollar aimpoints.

That is common since there is no way to focus them. I do OK when hunting but for target I need my glasses. A friend sees a large star but still kills deer.
They depend on your vision.
It would be great if they could come up with some way to focus the dot.

My Ultradot 30 came with rings, I thought they all did.

I have a halo dot when I look at my Ultradot. It's a bit of a problem but then it might be my old eyes. Anyway I look at it I can see it a lot better than iron sights. This getting old ain't no fun. I have two Tascos also and the dot problem is the same.

They do come with rings.

The Ultra Dot 25mm or 30mm will fit between Ruger rings. Some red dots will NOT fit because the rings are close together.
I think Ruger will trade rings to the 30mm if you want a larger Ultra Dot.
