Ill be glad to tell ya about it. First of all, I will never sell it!! If you are interested, I would trust but ONE man to build it, JD Jones at SSK industries. Ive had mine for some time now , I paid $2000.00 with dies back in 1989. The 12.9 is a wild cat built on the 460 wetherby mag case. Simply cut down , necked and reamed to a 50 cal. Also the rim must be rebated to .532 diam to work in the rem xp action. I believe it is still the worlds most powerful. 600 gr bullet at 1800 fps 450 gr bullet at 2300 fps 300 gr bullet at 3000 fps so far its a real hanfull and I must say with all seriousness, think about it !!! This gun will hurt you. If a 44 mag or a T/C 45/70 bothers you than by no means should you look at this. The recoil is monsterous with the 600gr If anyone wonts more info, contact SSK industries. They no longer list this caliber but Im sure they will build it. Any other info , just e-mail me See ya 12.9

Fred; yea that is the price JD as told me less than three months ago. as far as recoil i have a 458x2a xp from ssk and it does 1800fps with a 500gr and 2200fps with a 300gr.not enough case for the powder i am using.500gr on deer is great.i have xp in 300RUM,375/284 ssk, plus a few smaller cailbers.7 all together plus various contender and encore barrels.just got a 416 rem mag from ssk what kind of stock, and how is it holding up after how many rounds.and also scope how it is doing. glad to meet someone that uses a bigger round than me on deer.i will try to email you later with a pic and would like to see pic of the brake he is using o it. wade

Wade, Sounds like you have more toys than me!! Good for you my friend. The stock I believe is McMillan ?? It was what JD recomended. It is taking a beating. Its chipped up and cracked. I havent shot in a while, I need to get the gun re-beded.The entire action has driven back about a 16th or so. Its a lot of power for a handgun. The scope has been great a leupold 4x with Tsob mounts and 3 rings could use 4. I have gottin 1800fps with 600gr 2300fps with 450gr 3000fps with 300gr I havent messed with the bigger stuff too much. I have shot some 750gr and 800gr, but I must admit its just not worth it. I dont have any dig pict, I guess I better get some. Happy shooting Fred [ 08-26-2003, 16:28: Message edited by: 12.9x50.8jdj ]

fred; I was curious about how long the stock would last.I have a mcmillian on my 458x2a.yes it is a great stock.mine has a 4x leupold on it too.it is a great scope. how is the case life,i think case life would be great.cases are expensive jd makes them for 2 or 4 each i think he said.did you just buy them or try to make them and how many did you buy. hornady dies i guess.what kind of bullets do you use and where do you buy them at.i hav enot found a big slection.did not know you could 300gr bullets. for the fifty they are cooking. how many times have you shot it.i have put almost 3000 rounds threw my 458 now.

Wade, Wow .. lots-o-questions. Ok, The case life is great, Ive only trimed them twice in about ??? 100 reloads. I did make my own, no problem very easy.I got the forming and reloading dies from SSK both are RCBS. Bullets ... mostly from Barns Bullets, A-square had a bunch also (if they are still around) The bullets are exp. Barns make the 300gr fairly cheap, not very accurate for any distance, They are almost round BC is very bad. The 300 are intended for rounds like the 50/70 or 50/110 , so pushing them at 3000 they explode violently on impact. If you have more questions, just E-mail me.Its been a while since I have shot it but I may be able to answer your questions. If It Dont Hurt , Its Just Not Big Enough !!!
