I'm toying with the idea of buying one in 41 or 44 mag. Any thoughts/experiences with these. TIA.

Almost forgot important info, Bisley Hunter has same style, easily replaceable, front sight as Redhawk, BIG advantage over standard Ruger SA revolvers. Onty.

I actually already own a Bisley in 45 colt. The Bisley is by far my favorite grip frame for bigbore handguns - it fits my hand perfectly and makes shooting 300 gr bullets at 1200 fps (or so) no problem at all. Much more fun than shooting my 44 redhawk.

I've not owned a 41, but I'd like to give one a try. However, if the recoil isn't much lower than the 44, I'd probably just go with the 44. I'd expect the 41 to have a bit more muzzle blast, but maybe not enough more to notice. Plus, the local shop happens to have a Bisley hunter in 44 in stock. I don't care for the laminated grips, but those can be replaced easily with some nice cocobolo.

Yes, the replaceable front sight is a huge advantage, I particularly like the v-rear and front bead option - it gives a much finer sight picture, I have this on my redhawk.

I'v got a 44 mag Bisley Hunter. Its been very accurate with everything I'v ran thru it so far. At 52 oz,the recoil isn't bad at all, even better if you scope it,though I prefer mine unscoped. One thing re the SS Hunter frame is that its slightly larger than the blued frames. This is the only place that I know of that takes that into consideration regarding their grips.

I bought a set,and they took just a slight amount of tweeking but they fit just as well as factory, and well worth $45-$55.

There you go Onty, get a Bisley Hunter in 41mag, if they are availible in 41mag, then if the factory cylinder is not accurate enough, then put a new one on. Sounds like the perfect way to go unless you want something totally different.

Lar, there is special run of Bisley Hunter in 41, but, I am on north side of Great Lakes and what you assume as granted, up here is just pipe dream. It could be imported, but as far as I know, we are talking about 2-3 months timeframe. Distributors and dealers are mostly bean counters and their knowledge and experience is usually miniscule, if any. Majority of the folks over here are in PPC, IPSIC and cowboy shooting, and the only guys doing something serious in term of power are small number of silhouette shooters. Regards, Onty.

Well, I got the Bisley hunter in 44. Took to the range today after putting on a pair of cocbolo grips and a 2x Nikon. Grabbed a few random handloads, mostly with bluedot and 240 XTPs.

Every five shot groups was 1.25" or better at 25 yds. Very nice, comfortable gun. Between the heavier barrel and rib and the Bisley grip, I could shoot this gun all day long.

I suspect (hope) it won't be long before Ruger puts a few of these out in 480 or 454.

Now to work up some good loads...
