Wondering if anybody else here has gotten the 480 bug like I have, and gotten one. I have most of my loads in the favorite loads forumn.

I still have quite a few combo's I haven't tried with the bullets I cast, but as the season is winding down, as well as the temps, might be next year before I start more load experiments.

Can't believe Dennis already sold his...well, I know Dennis better than that. It's probably a wonder he kept it that long!

Sorry...no room for the 480 here. I just download the 500 Linebaugh and get the same effect. Glad you found something that turns your crank though.

Since I shoot with Dennis weekly, I know him well enough to not be suprised. I'm sure if I'd recieved my 460 gr WFN mold a bit earlier, he would have held on to it for another week or so, but I guess its alure faded. I will say of all the guns he's gone through in the last few years, he held on to the 480 the longest.

I would certainly love a 500, and would load it down, but the price of entry for a 500 is beyond my means. I did have the pleasure of shooting several of Dennis' though.

Well he still has that little 9" Whisper he's always bragging about. Think he's had that since I first ment him a year ago.
I know that has to be a record for him.

Got to witness a 480 Ruger in a Taurus raging bull take a Oryx (aka Gemsbok in Africa) here in NM on the white sands missle range. Shot was 100 yds broadside, animal had 33 inch horns, weighed roughly 400 lbs on the hoof.

Chad,

Was it a factory load, hand load, cast, jacketed?

Hello Paul,

It was a handload, Ken said it was a 325 grain XTP Hornady bullet I believe, does that sound correct. From what he stated it was roughly 100 fps faster over factory loads.

I want to say the Taurus Raging Bull had a 7.5 inch barrel, it was ported at the end. He had a Leupold straight 2 power atop of it. I got to shoot it a few times and recoil was very light imo. I guess due to its weight and being ported that helped a bunch. Pistol shot great groups at 100 yds, surpassed my expectations.

I am not sure what Taurus will do with his pictures, but if you see an oryx out of NM in any mags I took the pics.
