S&W is planning to offer a fifty. Marc Jamison of Jamison International is making the prototype brass. This is all I know.

Which 50 would it be? A 50 Action Express? A 500 Linebaugh? A 50 Special? A 50 BMG? Regardless, I think I would want one. It is good to hear SW is putting a new chambering with their guns. Thanks.

Must be a 50 special, they would have to redesign the thing to handle the 500 Linebaugh.

According to Marc the rim diameter is .528". It doesn't sound like a typical revolver round. I also don't think it's going to be .510", my guess is it will use 50 AE bullets. This is all speculation on my part.

When I emailed them if they wer going to build a 480, they said "I'm sure we are working on something new, but it
will be awhile before we come out with it!!!" That was on August 5th.

My guess is that they are building a whole new frame. When I emailed them I told them that I thought that they needed to get back in the race. They got alot of press and sold alot of models with the model 29. It is good to see them get back into the trend. If you want a 44 you can buy their product but if you want bigger that left them completely out and that ther is a market out there besides 9mm, 40, or 45 autos. I think that hit home.

This means I need to start saving again. WOW! How am I going to get this past everyone? I just tried to convince them that the 480 I just got was needed, big, more powerful, etc? That was hard!! Oh Well.

Sysephus,

I can't doubt that S&W wants to have a big bore handgun more powerful than .44 mag.

The big bore shooters are more and more important in all countries. That is a market to take, Ruger, Taurus, FA offer already big bore handguns. S&W and Colt are the two famous frims who don't offer these big bore handguns for the moment. For sure time is changing.

And I'll very happy to see the result.

A new and stronger revolver frame from SW would be awesome. It is very exciting for me to hear this news. I hope they will release some info to the public soon. Thanks.

A .50 wouldn't fit the J, K, L, or N frame. I guess they'd need an X or Z frame for this one!
