Just shot my buddies 7.5" Octagon barreled FA 475 today. He got it at the auction, NIB, for $1150.00. Talk about nice. For me it did not seem to recoil as bad as his FA 454, or about the same as my heavy loaded (335 gr LBTs @ 1450 fps) 5-shot 45 LC with 5" barrel. We were using Hornady's 400 gr XTPs. Now I have to save up and get a Ruger turned into a 500 L just to keep up. Uh oh, the wife is looking over my shoulder. Got to get...RW

Maybe the S&W 500 will catch you up. I like the big bores too. You never know when you might get between a mother tyranasaurus rex and her young. The 454 will have to make due for me right now.

The 475 Linebaugh is not as bad as it's been portrayed. However, shooting a 475 Linebaugh with a 425-grain hard-cast at around 1400 fps is not a cup of tea for everybody. Those who are not shy with a full load 454 Casull should have no problems whatsoever with the 475 Linebaugh. Glad you had fun with it. That price sounds like it was in one heck of a deal. Have fun.

Mingo, my buddy did get a heck of a deal. I only get to drool over it and sometimes shoot it (on his dime). I've got a Redhawk over at Clements right now being converted to a 45 LC so am on hold right now as far as getting anything else. Still, going to haunt the gunshows and auctions to see if I can scare up a SS Ruger for conversion to 500. Good shooting all...RW
