I know this is whipped horse and I am not wanting to know which kind of grip is best.Because everyone likes what he is shooting am sure or they would'nt be shooting it right . So here is my question. I am going to be ordering a BFR here pretty quick and was thinking I would have the grip rounded off alittle at the bottom ,is this what they call the gunfighter grip or what. Thanks

As an old SA shooter, single actions should rotate in your hand to mitigate recoil, especially with the big boomers. What you have in mind would be OK, just have your stocks on the frame when you do the modifications so's they fit right w/o gaps. Too bad they purposely made the gripframe on the BFR off dimension so that a Ruger Bisley gripframe won't fit at all.

There is a thread on singleactions.com concerning grip frame modification. The guy started with a Blackhawk grip frame and ended up with close to a Bisley shape.

From experience, the Bisley grip frame handles recoil from the big calibers better than the Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk profiles do. When touching off the Linebaugh calibers or .50 Alaskan revolvers, one doesn't need as much roll backinto the hand.
