I know which issue you are talking about; just can't put my hands on it. There is a photo of a whitetail on the cover. Try doing a search on their website.

Dec 2000, no. 208.
Useless information for the hand loader. All jacketed bullets and only 400 gr.
I have every Handloader and there have been only two .475 articles, I can't find the first but it was more useless then this one. I don't think the first had a single load.
This caliber has been sadly overlooked.

I must have seen 20 articles on the .454 and about 30 on the .45.
I hate looking for things in the old Handloaders, have to thumb through the whole rag, nothing in the table of contents or on the covers.
They are made better now but contain little substance.

bfrshooter,
Your last sentence says it all, "contain little substance".

I have subscribed to the Handloader since 1974 and can not believe how that magazine has deteriorated over the years. There is very little useful information in it now days.

Fortunately, there are plenty of fans of the .475 here and there is more than enough load information if you are willing to look in the archives. What is it that you intend to do with your .475?

Marko, while I don't want to speak for Thunder, I suspect that he probably wants to shoot it!

Correct! Mine is all dialed in and ready to go. Not much fun there. I have been playing with my 10MM and my SIG P220, trying to get them set up.

Now that's just funny.

I've been on the verge of getting a .475 for a while. It had never really been on my goodie list, but about 18 months ago, I stumbled onto a BFR deal too good to turn down. I had wanted a .460, but the BFR was a .500, so I went that direction, even though I would have preferred a .460 given the choice.

I really like the BFR; it's a great gun. But the longer cylinder length is hardly a plus for balance and handling. I enjoy and shoot it regularly, but I'm pretty sure a .475 will follow me home one of these days. A .475, not a .460.

Lol.

This is a BFR .475 while testing different cast boolits, shot at 50 yards.
I was able to keep 4 out of 5 shots on a six inch swinger at 400 yards from Creedmore position.
It is a wonderful gun.

Notice some groups have vertical stringing. That is what recoil does, the thing we have not cured yet with the .500's. .500's use the whole target instead of an inch.
I am thinking three hands on the grip could hold a .500 down! jumping
