Well I finally put a good buck from my area to rest with my 45 lc. My father, brother, and myself watched a good buck go into our lease and we went after him. I ended up pushing stumpy off from his bed(stumpy had 3 feet his front foot was blown off)the buck went right past my brother but he was looking into the sun so no shot. Then the deer stopped 35 yards from my father but he could not see him. The buck busted out of the brush and gave me a 235 yard shot with my 338 VVC as he was quartering away at a strong runI hit him late but the buck came right back to where I spooked him. Then my brother started making noise with his 41 mag. About 5 shots later my brother let me know that the deer was comming to me that's when my 45 came out of the holster. Then the big boy dropped at my first shot got back to his feet dropped at my second shot then he tryed to get to his feet one more time and he was hit the last time. The last 3 shots were at around 50 yards with iron sights. This was a very pretty 8 point with a kicker comming off just above his head which made him a 9 point. My 45 uses a cast hollow point which performed verry well I found 2 bullets that weighed 196,and 225.6 they started out as 250's. When I find out how to post a picture I'll put one up. < !--color-->

We do it different in the Catskill Mtns, only one round. It's a confusing story . How many rounds , of what type , hit the deer ? Was just his hoof missing or some of the leg ? Enjoy the venison .

Yup you are right the deer did have holes in it.I hit the the deer 3 times with my 45 and once with the 338.The shot with the 338 was the only bad shot it was a little back it was through the liver. The shot's with the 45 on the other hand were all very good in fact they were all withen 2 1/2" of each other right in the left shoulder. After all the excitement when the deer kept moveing I just did not want him to get back up.As for my brother he knocked off the g2 on his left side and put a hole in his right ear.
