I recently read a review on the Magnum Research BFR and it looks interesting. I would like to get one in .45-70. Can someone tell me about the quality of these guns? Also, any reason why I shouldn't get one?

Seamus O'Grady,

Last year I have ordered a BFR in .444 Marlin. The delivery had 4 months, 6 months later my order still nothing, and 10 months after my order my BFR is arrived.

The big problem with Mag. Res. production is one time by year. Not at the same period, when they have enough back orders for one model they decide to produce it.

I have turn my mind, and I haven't purchase my BFR. Reason is simple, I never seen in other forums one postive point for this revolver. The most common negative points are too expensive, poor quality, delivery time never respected...

I have found really good custom revolver Phillip&Rodgers. It is more expensive than a BFR but their .450 Marlin are great.

All frame fro BFR and Phillip&Rogders are made by Ruger, but worked in better quality by Phillip&Rodgers.
