The most accurate 9mm I have ever shot was a TEC-9. I dont and will not own a TEC-9. But it was more accurate than I Sig 226, 228, Berretta 92fs, Colt 1911 (SUCKED), HK (something or other), Glocks, Luger and others that I can not remember.

I think it has something to do with the weight and action type.

Hmmm.... most accurate and reliable 9mm I've ever fired was a EEA Witness.

My personal 9mm is a BHP with slim line grips. But we used to issue the SIG P-225 to our HQ staff and it's a really fine shooting and carrying weapon (if you can find someone who'll part with their's).

My Agency tested about everything out there two years ago
and our top picks were the SIG and the HK USP's. The test criteria was slanted towards LE of course but would also carry over to a field gun/home protection, etc.

We had about a dozen Officers test the submitted models for everything from the subjective hows it "feel" to function, accuracy, ease of mag loading, takedown and cleaning, etc. We had a lengthy range session then they had to clean the pistols and turn them over to the next tester.

I've always liked the SIG "system" as it's always been trouble free and reliable for me. To a lesser degree the HK USP's appeal but my experience with their system is not as extensive as my history with SIG's. I was so impressed with the HK's though that when the testing was done I bought one of the USP compacts in .357 SIg for my carry gun.

For a reasonably priced 9mm the current crop of CZ's are very impressive. Glocks are popular as well, will last a lifetime and theres a million accesories available too.

In the CLASSICS category take a look at one of the Browning High Powers. UNLESS you have a small hand,as the grip may be too large.

Good nines are easy to find and ammo is dirt cheap.

What does everyone think is the best 9mm auto pistol available. I'm looking for accuracy and dependability and don't give a flip about magazine capacity. In fact, the big mag's are a turn off.

Anyone have any strong favorites and why?

H&K P9S Target hands down the best! IMHO that is
the why is in the shooting, damn near a zin thing!
also have a Combat Model in 45acp

I think that Sig makes about the best shooting auto out there. The EAA witness seems to be a pretty nice gun and I haven't had any problems with the one I bought for the wife.

I have several Commanders and Combat Commanders that have fitted barrels in both 9mm and .38 Super. They are exceptionally accurate guns as well as easy to shoot. You might look at the new Kimber or Springfield Armory Government models they now have out in 9mm. Both have BoMar sights and well fitted slides. I just bought one of the Kimbers in .38 Super and out of the box it is as accurate as a BarSto fitted Colt. I plan on having a 9mm barel fitted to it. The Super barrel also shoots 9x23 like it was made for it with just a change to a heavier spring. Three caliber gun for the price of an extra barrel....Bob
