The front sight seemed to work fine on mine. It does have some elevation limits. If I remember right, I ended up setting the front sight almost as high as it would go, then raised the rear sight to zero at 50yds. Then for the other settings I would lower the front sight for 100, 150 and 200yds. That was awhile ago, so I could have it backwards.

The idea is good and does work if I shot off hand. But I shot Creedmore for IHMSA and the S&W shot to a different POI depending on how I picked the gun up between relays. Group position could change as much as 10" at 50 meters. Each time I would make an adjustment on a setscrew, my grip would change and I was trying to chase POI. I had 3 of those silhouette models and never tamed them. I could shoot a 1/2" group dead center, put the gun down, pick it up and shoot another 1/2" group 10" from the first. I should have tossed the factory grips and put something else on them. The guns themselves are deadly accurate but I could never hold them the same unless I shot off hand. At least for me, they are very grip sensitive.
interesting bfr, i have had the same issue with my 629. best trigger on any gun i've ever shot, super accurate but for me the poi shifts quite a bit with very very subtle changes in the way i hold the gun.
