One of the members had a web site link to get your cylinder reamed. For pets sake or something like that I would appreciate if someone could post the link.

Thank You

I sent the cylinder for my Ruger Redhawk 45 LC to http://www.45throatdoctor.com/. The work was excellent and the turn around time was fast. I'd recommend him.

Thank You I went to cylindersmith to read there info. I purchased a Cylinder reamer from Brownells today. I believe that cylindersmith can do the job for less money, but I have lost many items in the mail.

Thank you for your reply's it just shows this is a great site and so are the members.

Well thanks for the consideration anyways.
I've heard nothing but good thing about the throat doctor as well.

been doing throats "for pay" for about three years now and haven't had the post office lose one yet. (knock on wood)

" but I have lost many items in the mail."
Hope they don't mail you your reamer. Wink Big Grin

I guess I am paranoid but after loosing a new 12ga O/U in the mail for 2 years it tends to make a person that way.

I used to have a Dan Wesson 44mag that I bought new but when a friend had his frame crack I sold it. I found out later that he had used a 2x4 to beat out some hot loads. If he had only told the truth I would have never sold the first 44DW. I bought the one I have now off Auction Arms it has a .427 cylinder throat that won't group that I am getting the reamer for. I have no problems trusting gunsmiths just the post office. thumb

I read about the cost of reaming my 2 Ruger Bisley Vaquero 45 Colt cylinders and decided to just buy the reamer and pilot set from Brownell's and do it myself.

Very easy job to do and it only took about 10 minutes for each cylinder.

Ruger single actions are a lot easier to remove the cylinder than my DW is. I am hoping to do it with out removing the cylinder. I have taken it apart in the past but it is a Pain in the but to get back together.

I took the DW 44mag out to the range Sunday and it shot a lot better. I was able to shoot off a rest at 25yrds and got 2, 5shot groups at 3" or less and one 5 shot group at 1.5" or less. The first groups were with lead cast at 900fps and the later was with Jacketed Hornady HP's at 1250fps. I have a problem seeing the open sights and target clearly at 25yrds or I may have done better. The DW 44mag used to shoot a pattern like a shotgun at that distance. I also shot freehand and was able to keep all of the bullets on a 8.5†x 11†sheet of paper even though the wind was blowing a lot.

I am relieved that this pistol now shoots very well and am a believer in the fact that throat size contributes to accuracy.

Yes it is a 6 shot revolver, but I must have choked under the pressure. Red Face

I am not an expert, but I thought that there were two pieces to this puzzle, the cylinder and the throat. Of the two, I would suspect that the throat would be more important. The folks over at Sixgunner seem to think so anyway!

Hello,

I own a Pachmayr Dominator chambered in 44 Magnum, is there anybody out there who could re-chamber it to DW 445 Super Magnum? The Dominator was tested to 100,000 CPU so I doubt that the Super Mag pressure would be an issue.

Thanks,
George
