I just thought it would be fun to list some of our favorite movie pistol/gun mistakes.
I was watching one of my guilty pleasures the other day: one of the CSI shows. Anyway A woman was killed in a hotel room and the "CSI" says "It looks if she was executed by a 41mm(!!!) handgun from point blank." I am no forensic investigator but I think the crime scene would have looked a little different if someone unleashed a 41mm round LOL. I don't know about you guys but I think SAFARIKID is the only one of us who knows where to get a 41MM handgun Big Grin. dancing

Last year, during my first year of law school, I went to a recruiting meeting for the FBI. I wasn't interested in joining, but I thought the presentation might be interesting and they were giving away food. Over the course of the meeting, the FBI agent who was doing the presentation informed us that all agents carried 40mm handguns. I couldn't help but snicker.

Kinda had to snicker in the theater when I went to see "Shooter". 2 major screw-ups. First, opening scene, he has to manually cycle the action of the Barrett .50 BMG (semi-auto). I know you're using blanks, but come on. At least cut the footage to try and make it look real. Second, a 200 yard head shot with a .22 LR exited??? No chance...

If the target was a liberal, there would be no brain. Additionally, the skull would most likely be a bit thicker than the spine; wait, they have no spines. Yeah, I'm pretty sure a head shot on a liberal at 200 yards with a .22LR would most definitely exit. There's nothing in there to stop it.

I always wonder why the good guy in a fire fight has to chamber a round in his pistol/shotgun and of course the classic hollywood swan dive is always a hoot.

Love Those .41s'

one inch is 25.4 mm; so we're talking about a 2" bore

One of my favorites is when the good or bad guy pulls a Glock pistol and there is a cocking/safety released sound. On a Glock. That has no safety.

This is about handgun hunting, right? Sorry Frowner

one of the CSI shows where it was a plot point that the bullets had become "magnetized" by proximity to an MRI machine...

another CSI where a murder weapon is refered to as a "Luger" and when they finally show it it's
a stainless steel REVOLVER.

Another CSI (CSI-Miami) where their blond ballistics expert (Emily Proctor is definatly an attractive actress) but her "Demonstration of bullet casting technique (while casting buckshot in a SINGLE cavity mould) and talkign about sprue plate tool marks had me literally laughing out of my chair....

I would volunteer to actually teach the actress
about ballistics stuff, I'll be patient and helpful... her script writer though?

I have a canoe padle for him. the flat when they slightly annoy me, the edge for "special occasions"

CSI Miami seems to be the worst of the bunch for technical errors of that type.

but CSI-Ny isn't much better, any other cop show
seems even worse...

that and the absolutely attrocious marksmanship
that their story line usually demands.
A whole bunch of shooting and a near equal ammount of missing...

Yup -- I have watched them all and they make a lot of errors. I think that Las Vegas is the most error free of the three. But, would it hurt to ask? Even an amateur enthusiast or reloader knows more than the writers of these shows........
