I have been away for a bit. Got lured to all things tactical! Last week I picked up a stainless redhawk in 44 mag with a 4" barrel. Anyway, so I've only been shooting glocks in 9mm and 1911's in ACP exclusively. I use the fighting stance/modern iso grip and grip the 1911's firmly. How hard should I grip a double action revolver? Are my upper arms also flexed? Shoulders and chest tight? I assume that it's the same as a 1911 but more grip and upper body tension? Thanks! Pics to come when I put new grips and fiber-optic front sight on it! Oh BTW, what do you guys think of a .006 cylinder/barrel gap and an endshake of .003"? Normal for rugers? ..........

The measurements should be of little concern. Did you buy it used? It might have been shot dry if used and is showing wear. The pin, ratchet and cylinder front should always be lubed. I use STP on these places. My Ruger .44 has about 60,000 heavy loads through it and only has about .001" or so end shake. You need some for heat expansion. I shoot more relaxed then the combat stuff. Elbows slightly bent. Just grip the gun firmly, not so tight you shake. I don't like to induce strain. The .44 is real easy to shoot.

No I bought it new. I'll be shooting 44 special and lighter stuff most of the time, with heavy loads once and a while for fun. My SP101 has about .001 inch endshake. ..........
