I own two SRHs -- a .480 Ruger and a .454 Casull. They are both very fine handguns. Very accurate. The .480 has claimed the lives of a number of hogs in Florida and I couldn't be happier with the performance of the cartridge and the revolver. The .454 I've only owned for a short period of time and I'm already pretty enamored with the way it shoots on the range. Have yet to hunt with it, but will remedy that dilema in about six weeks. Don't think you can go wrong with the SRH. Happy New Year!

Guys, I have to step in with another comment. I shot IHMSA for years and noticed that S&W guns were NEVER in the winners circle. I had four of them and several were the silhouette models. These were accurate beyond words but I could never hit all the steel. I could hit the first five chickens dead center and then miss the next five. Same thing would happen in practice. I could shoot a 1/2" group in the center of the chicken, lay down the gun to repaint, then shoot another 1/2" group. But the second group would be 10" higher. After a lot of work, I found it is because the guns were GRIP SENSITIVE. Any change in the way the gun was picked up and held would make the point of impact change. This was never a problem with a hogleg grip like the Colt or BH. The Super Redhawk also suffers a small amount from this due to the grip shape and angle, but not nearly as bad as a Smith. I found that it had to be held FIRM, not real tight or loose. If you hold it loose one time and with a death grip the next, it will never group. I mastered the SRH and never had a problem hitting anything from beer cans at 200 yds to water buckets at 400 meters. If you can't get this gun to group, I would blame technique and not the gun. Practice a firm grip that is the same shot to shot. Also if you are sandbagging it, the bag under the grip must be the same tension for every shot or you will get verticle dispersion. A tight compressed bag one shot, then a loose bag the next will walk your groups. Never adjust the sight picture by messing with the rear bag, only the front one. I hope this helps.
