For this years deer season I am going to try and do some testing.

My plan is to shoot a deer, and a pig, if possible, with my Original 6 1/2" Mod 29-2, with my hard cast Keith 240gr over 21 gr of 2400, and a deer, and pig with the 240gr SP Magtec factory ammo and the same with the Hornady 240gr XTP factory ammo.

Of course I will do a very good "autopsy" on each deer and pig killed as I always harvest the meat, and do the gutting, skinning, and butchering myself.

You should throw some heavies into the mix as well -- if you have the time and the tags! Looking forward to your testing.

I've done such tests on my similar M29 with Corbon DPX [all copper Barnes] and Federal 280 gr Swift A-frame . They work very well on 250 lb red deer at 50 yds .
DPX-rib,glancing vertabra, lungs, rib ,stopped by hide .
A-frame - nicked rib, lungs and liver, nicked rib ,exited.
Not bad ammo for a mere 44 mag ! Standing , iron sights, two seconds to raise , aim, shoot ,one shot kill ---seasoned citizens unite ! wave
