I recently aquired a .45 caliber LBT mould in the wide long nose shape... for 400 gr. bullets! Now what do I do. I plan on using this in my Ruger Bisley .45 Colt and my FA .454 Casull. Does anyone have any loads or loading experience with a super-heavy-weight like this? By my estimation 900 to 1000 fps is possible in the Colt and 1200 to 1300 fps with the Casull. Man... this might hurt!

I don't know what the question is but as far as load data for the Freedom Arms goes start at 20.5 of W296 or H110 and work up. You should be able to hit 1300 in a 43/4 inch FA and slightly more in a 71/2 inch. In a FA you can use all of the two mentioned powders that you can get in the case and still be able to crimp the bullet. In the Ruger I would start way way low. Most authorities say 23 gr of 296 or H110 is the most with a 300 to 310 gr. for roughly 30000CUP. Post over on sixgunner.com and ask over there on the 45 Colt Ruger. As a side note the Encore with the 12 inch barrel can use 500 gr bullets in 454 because you can seat them out. Velocity will run 1325 to 1350 with a 500 grainer and 1625 with a 400 grain. With AA1680 the 500 gr may do even more but who cares as 500 grs. at 1325 is a lot of power from a 12 inch barrel.

I shoot a 460 gr WFN out of my 480, and launch it 1050 fps, recoil isn't that bad, all things considered
