I just took posession of a NIB XP 100R in .35 Rem. Just had to have a true 200yd+ pistol to go along with the Contenders. I also have barrels in .22-250, 243, 260, 7-08, and 308, so who knows what I will finally settle on!
I sorta had my heart set on a Burris 3-12X with the Ballistic Plex. But, dangit, they run $300+! I find that a bit tough. I've looked at the various 2-7Xs but I'm hoping this gun will be able to use the extra Xs.
Anyone know where I can kidnap one of these for a bit less? Or, maybe an alternative choice?

You should have plenty of scope for that caliber if you purchased a 2x6 Bushnell or Weaver. I have a couple of 2.5x7 TC scopes on calibers of that size and they work great.

I agree! 2X6 will be great and the Weaver is holding up on top of a friends .475 FA.

When I bought a 500 S&W Mag, I initially mounted a 2x6 Burris handgun scope with extended eye relief.

In actual use, I found that if I tried to use the Burris at anything over 3X, I could not get a "full" picture in the scope.

I tried moving it forward and backward in the mounts but above 3X I had to "shorten" the hand-to-eye distance (e.g., shoot with bent elbows) in order to see any thing. That sucked with the recoil of the 500 and I finally took the Burris off and mounted a Leupold and had no problem with eye relief.

Anyone want to buy a Burris 2-6 handgun scope real cheap???

Okay, Barstooler.
I'll bite. Shoot me a price!

I have a couple of the NC Star 2-7X scopes, and have no problems with them. You are right, the eye relief does shorten a LOT on the higher powers. I just don't think they will hold up to the 35.

Bug, if you can find an older Redfield 4X, I think it is just what the doctor ordered. A 6X is going to significantly shrink your field of vision, and the 4X should be plenty of magnification, even out to 200.

Just my thoughts...

One of the toughest handgun scopes on the market today is the Bushnell Trophy or Elite 3200 2x6. I have one mounted on a 14" 444 Marlin contender and had one on my 358JDJ contender. Both took several hundred rounds of full power loads with no problems. They have a more generous eye relief too. I can use them on 6x without having to bend my arms to get a full field of view.
