I went on my first handgun hunt here in AZ this spring. Nothing big and dangerous - Javelina - but I'm hooked. I used my Ruger Blackhawk 45LC and got a broadside shot at 40-50 yards. That little desert pig didn't go far.

Here is my .45:

This summer I saw a revolver that had an acid eched elk and deer on the cylinder. The owner had them put on for each animal he got with the revolver.

I liked the idea so much I engraved a Javelina on the cylinder of mine to mark my first handgun hunt.

Some people claim that the packs of javelina are very dangerous. I've taken a half dozen or so and haven't seen any sign of danger. Some people down here claim to have been attacked though.

Very nice....and as you have learned javelina are perfect game to hunt with a revolver. My Blackhawk has taken its share. I really like the engraved cylinder idea.... beer

OH, I like that and that you are handgun hunting.
I have to ask what you will do when you run out of room on the gun from all animals you will shoot?

My plan is to get another Ruger 45LC - this time a Ruger Bisley 45LC. Then I'll have 2 cylinders to engrave.

Riodot,
My first handgun hunt was also on the AZ HAM hunt, and I also used a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt. I guess great minds really do think alike. A Speer 225gr HP and a heary dose of W296 did the job. That was 32 years ago. That eching on the cylinder is an interesting idea, never saw that before.
