Shot my 44 mag Bisley Hunter today at the range. I put a 30mm red dot on it and shot easy 3 inch groups at 50 yards. Very excited to white tail hunt with it this year. Also stopped at a local pawn shop/gun shop and picked up a Glock 20 today. Nice Veterans Day! I have wanted one of these for a long time. I have always thought that the 10mm would be a great deer hunting companion when carrying a rifle at the same time. I plan on loading the 175gr. win. silvertip.

I have to say that I am totally upset with myself for not picking up a Bisley Hunter in 45 Colt to go with my 2 s/s Bisley Vaquero's that I installed the same Hunter grips from Ruger onto. The Hunter series are awesome looking guns and would have totally complimented by Bisley Vaquero's. I have had a G20 10mm for several years now and installed a 5" KKM barrel into it in order to shoot the hotter Double Tap Ammo level loads and cast bullets. My favorite high velocity low pressure powder for the 10mm is IMR800X but one hasd to be extremely careful when using this powder due too it not metering consistantly in a powder measure. I use a RCBS Rockchucker single stage press and weigh every powder charge individually when I'm working with IMR800X. Other top powders are AA#9 which you can't over load the 10mm with and Blue Dot which meters accurately but give top velocities. The Winchester Silver Tips should be an excellent load for hunting deer but if they are factory ammo the velocities aren't what you can get if you reload or if you go with Double Tap Ammo loads. I just ordered Beartooth 200gr FNGC cast bullets and will be loading them up right away. Should be able to get 1300fps with IMR800X...

Very good to hear the Bisley Hunter is working out for you. My eyes were never great and they're not improving with age so I may be looking for a "scopeable" Bisley one of these next few purchases. Call me old school but were I to buy a 10mm for deer hunting I'd be inclined to run 200 grain hardcast flatnose as fast as I could with accuracy.

Dollar for dollar, a glock 20 10mm is hard to beat. 15 rounds of 730 ft.lbs. in a nice handy package. You can use 135 grain bullets or 230 grain bullets by Double tap. Glocks are not pretty but they are reliable working SOB's. I have been shooting one since 1991, and never had a single malfunction in it, and have shot probably 15,000 rounds through it.

I have little experience with my Glock 20, but have had some problem with 15 round after market magazines. I've replaced them with Glock facory 15 round magazines and hope get that piece of mind back. The 10 round Glock factory magazines have never given me a problem. I do notice the factory follower places the cartridge a bit nose up, which probably improves reliability. Any feedback on long term storage of fully loaded magazines or any need to rotate magazines to prevent getting a spring set? I'd say the Silvertip 175 grains are going to be a great deer load. I loved the same bullet a 100 fps faster in my Model 57 S&W 6 inch for deer.
