If you have one of these or have shot one, please let me know how you like/liked it.

I am also curious how the action on this thing works.

Take a look for yourself. Looks like a great gun.

I have had a Competitor pistol for about 18 months. It is similar to the Lone Eagle, except that the Competitor does not have a separate cocking lever. The action cocks on opening, unlike the Lone Eagle. My pistol is a 257 AI with a 16" barrel. It will consistently shooting sub 1" groups at 100 yards. I am very pleased so far. If you buy one, spend the extra money and get the adjustable trigger. It is money well spent. You will need to be patient. The wait time from Competitor will likely be 12+ weeks, but it will be worth the wait. :-)

Forgot to answer your question about the action. It is a rotary breech design. Basically, you turn the rear of the action about 90 degrees CCW to close it and 90 degrees CW to close it. The action features VERY positive ejection on opening. There is a manual safety on the rear of the action, as well as a passive built in trigger safety. Let me know if you have any other q's. I'll answer any that I can.

Exactly how does the safety on the rear of the action function? I can't picture where it is and how it works....

I have been offered a deal on a Competitor with 1 grip and 3 barreled actions in 35 Rem, 250 Savage and 22 K-Hornet. This pistol is about 7 years old but is suppose to be in very good condition (haven't seen it). The 35 Remington doesn't do much for me.....wish it was a 358 Winchester. I have never actually seen a Competitor, but I am wondering how difficult it would be to rechamber the barrel to 358? I also am curious about the Competitor "stock", the new style Lone Eagle fits my hand like it was made for it???

The competitor is a good gun but the service is very bad. It takes forever to get your gun and even longer to get barrels. Go with the Encore or Striker..........

Greetings! I had a Competitor for awhile, a 22-250 with 12" bull barrel.

My overall impressions of the gun are that it bests the Lone Eagle hands down in all significant categories, and I especially liked the adjustable trigger. Mine was able to be adjusted down to a feel and pull weight very similar (nearly identical) to that of a T/C Contender.

Nice guns!

If you are looking at the back of the action, it is at the bottom of the raised part that you grip to rotate the action. It is just simply a sliding button that I believe blocks the "trigger linkage"?

One other poster mentioned service problems. I will agree that it does take a while to get the pistol or extra barrels, but the quality of the work has NEVER been a problem for me. I have a little more patience than most though. My dad does a lot of custom work and I understand the nature of the relationship between workload and delivery times in a small shop. If I wanted something fast, I would have bought another Encore/Contender. The Competitor was worth the wait, IMHO.

Do any of you Competitor shooters have any pics of your guns to share with us?

It has been awhile since I had mine, and I'd like to see how others are setting theirs up
