jwp did you recover any of the bullets from that white box ammo? The reason I asked was on deer other than completely broadside I could't seem to keep the jacket and core together. This deer was taken at 18yards with a quartering away shot and I had jacket core seperation and it did't seem to matter what the range was.

I had jacket-core separation on a Freedom Arms bullet that I used on a Gemsbok. The jacket was found in the right hindquarter and the core in the stomach. Those are tough bullets.

That was not in the least bit helpful. So all this is conjecture; sounds about right.

Only if you dont mind being magnetic.

I just checked with the originator of the 405 grain load, and asked him if anyone had used the load on game yet. He said no, but, the load is being carried and will be used when the opportunity arrises. I also told him that some on this forum had doubts about the load....he told me "anyone that has doubts is welcome to stand in front of it". So, for me that pretty much sums it up. I wouldn't knowly stand in front of a BB gun and niehter would that "DUDE" that made that statement.
A rather worthless statemnt indeed. The real world wants real world data, the only type of date that is meaningfull. After all proclaiming an overly long for caliber bullet superior for large game without ever using it on lrage game is well, rather silly

Kind of curious: What's' wrong with an unstable, more then half inch long bullet, that hit's and tumbles?

Not only does it hinder penetration, it may not go where you aim -- meaning that it could miss the vitals.

Who cares? It's still a nearly half ounce of lead, going very fast. Other folks design bullets to tumble, but, most of those folks have
this thing called the Hague Convention to deal with.

shockerThis obviously from someone who doesn't hunt with a handgun,or hunt period. If a bullet from a short or long gun tumbles it may never get where you need it.

No. it's from someone that test shot a 500 grain, over an inch long, 45 caliber sabot @ 1800 fps. Unless the animal is huge, a tumbling 500 grain, .45 or .50 cal sabot is not ineffective. In fact, it dropped rats, chipmunks, squirels, mouse, rabbits, feral cats and dogs, and even suck ass, bulls@@@@ forum moderators.

Oh really? When, pray tell, was this feat accomplished? I am most sure it occurred in your mind.

Now, cease the profanity or I'm going to have to start zapping your posts.
