I carry a 4 5/8 SSBH in .45colt as a backpacker. I have confidence in the big 300grLFP @ 1000fps as stoppers. This load is readily fired one handed if need be. Penetration is extreme, guaranteed not to stay in any two legged varmint. I think a good 250gr soft lead SWCHP loaded to about 900fps would be pretty decisive.The Fed. load is a good one, but vel. is a bit low @ around 750fps.
