I took my 15" 7mm08 Encore out to the range. It shot perfect. I used 115 gr. speer hollow point with 43.5 grs. of IMR 4064. Recoil was not bad and groups were around 1".

Fireball, How is the 7mm-08 in terms of recoil? I know what the Encore 308 is like (not too bad, but not what I'd call very easy) but have not personally fired the 7mm-08. ------------------ "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Fireball recoil is not to bad. It has a good snap then it lifts about like a hot 44mag. I Like this gun alot.....Leon

quote: Fireball, The 7mm08 was the first barrel I used on my Encore and I have alot of respect for it. I started out using the 140 gr Ballistic Silvertip and VarGet and got 2615 fps with 1 1/4" groups @ 100 yards. Recoil is very managable. I have read that some say this round recoils like a 44 mag, I agree and disagree. The amount of energy absorbed by the shooter feels similiar to the 44 mag in a relatively heavy revolver but the muzzle jump from the Encore is basically zero. It is a much different type of recoil then a revolver. Over the past few years, I have purchased several barrels including the 270 Win, 50 A.E. and a custom 7.21 Tomahawk. Because I use these larger rounds for big game hunting I decided to try the 7mm08 with light bullets for long range varmint/predator hunting. The first load I tested using a moly coated Speer 110gr TNT and Varget, put the first five rounds inside an inch ctc. With top loads, I can get 2900 fps with this bullet and 5/8" groups. This is the only load I use in the 7mm08 now. Have taken dozens of chucks at +300 yards and on game results are impressive, on par with the 25-06 in a rifle but trajectory is much lazier of course. Good Shooting!!! 50
