Mike, I always thought you were a little further out there than the rest of us with the 41 cal thing, but now I know. You are just crazy! All kidding aside, let us know when your finger comes loose, I mean how the groups are.

Pete, We are having a very informal "git together" in mid June over a weekend. We plan on shootin a bunch of handguns. If you have the time and are interested, send me an e-mail and i will give ya the details..... The 405 can be loaded well beyond what i am capable of shooting. I am starting work on lighter loads and hope work up to fairly stout loads. I have become accustom to the 444 Marlin out of me contender but this is a beast of a different color!!

As happens many times when I break out my guns everyone wants the "try" them. All totaled I came hone with 300 empty(mt) .41RemMag, 200 mt .41GNR and 80 mt .411JDJ. I don't think I pulled the trigger on those guns more than 25 times total. We really raised havoc with the nutria. We went to our family camp and shot in that area of marsh land just south and east of Raceland. I had a hodge-podge of loads with me (cleaning out the ammo locker of short runs and test runs)from 170g jacketd to some 300g X bullets for the .411JDJ. Speeds were from 900FPS to almost 2400FSP. We really had fun. I re-learned something, NEVER SHOOT A NUTRIA IN THE MUD AT MUZZLE TOUCHING RANGES. I think some of the "stuff" that rained down us was from "The Big Bang" (pun intended). Sure smelled like it. We were able to recover and turn in enough tails to cover the cost of the weekend of shooting. All in all it was a very fun week and the first time in 12 years that we were all together.

didn't mention that I'm already talking to Gary Reeder about a .414Super cylinder for the Hunter or maybe a conversion to his new as yet pictured Ulmiate .410GNR which uses the Hunter as the platform. Well if I didn't spend my money on .41s' it would be wine, wimmen, and high money 5 card stud. Think in the long run the .41s' will please longer then the others. I'll check my work schedule to see if I'm free for the shoot. Will try hardest to make it.

do you think that big old case will like the light stuff. seems to me that you will really have to crimp down a light bullet to get ALL that powder to burn and not blow out the end and flash off. maybe with a 16 inch barrel you won't have to much flash off. i have seen some night time fireballs becasue of flash off that were spectacular and made other shooters move real fast and real far away. BTY that Competitor you shoot is pretty neat. Is that the pistol that has a kind of "rolling" cannon breach to load from? [ 05-05-2003, 06:00: Message edited by: Still Crawfish ]
