Hey Guys. In the news-letter I get online from Remington, they tell us they are now producing a .45 ACP, Model 1911. -What' you guys say ?!! (-About what we can expect on this pistols quality comming from Rem. -Will we see lower prices(?) now on .45 ACP pistols. -And is Remington back in producing handguns in general,- or is it just this specific handgun, etc.) Chr.

I really wish them much luck with this and hope they sell a lot of guns. Remington is good people and have certainly done well by me with parts help on other things. However, I'd prefer to own one of the originals with the Remington Rand marking. There's just something about knowing yours may have been used in WWII and wondering what all it saw at the front. I think there is/was some connection in the corporate names but I've never been clear on exact details. Colt has of course been offering their version too. They also have different finishes and have even added the .38 Super to the 1911 line-up. However, for the same reasons as stated above, my last purchase of the Colt 1911 was an original WWI 1911. Not the WWII 1911A1 but the WWI. They are basically the same gun excepting several minor features. If Ithaca was still around, they could get in on this too. There were others also. Anyone know who has the current rights to the Union Switch & Signal name?

So why should I buy a Remington 1911 out of the 100 other 1911s on the market ?. BTW the Remington 1911 of the past was NOT the same company as Remington Arms !!!

I also wish them luck. If the price is right, I'll buy one just for the hell of it. ________________________________________________ Never met a Colt I didn't like.

I am making a bold prediction: by the SHOT Show next January the list of companies NOT making an AR-15 and a 1911 will be a blank sheet of paper. Cheap to make, and a 700% profit margin is hard to beat. Rich DRSS
