Kingfisher, are you using a Lee factory crimp die? I use one on all pistol/revolver rounds and lever guns. A consistant and adequate crimp should increase velocity.

Well I took my S&W 500 out today And shot the 400gr bullets. The group was 2.5" at 100 yds. and I could tell by the recoil that the bullets were doing about 1550 to 1600 FPS. They should do better with AA1400.. Next time I'll take my conagraph.

Same thing happened to me on a deer hunt in Alabama. The first of the year, Jan. I went with some other guys on a deer hunt for $1500.00 apease. When we got there it was in the 60's and low 70's. A cold front was supose to come threw well that never happened. I didn't even see a dead deer. Thats hunting. All I could do was smile $1500.00 gone.

Let me know what you hear JRO45. I'm going to try the 385's and the 400's this weekend and we'll see what happens. I'm thinking about using the 350 gr. data for the 385's and just starting low and working up from there. That should keep me in the clear. Haven't purchased any AA9 or AA4100 yet but I'll have one or the other before I go shoot this weekend. Cozumel was great, always is. Colorado was also great, but there were no Elk. Spending $500 on a tag and coming home empty handed is a killer. Especially when you're on a budget to begin with. It was really warm up there and the Elk were staying up high. We could have a used a couple feet of snow, but didn't get it. It was in the high 50's low 60's during the day and high 20's low 30's at night.
