Hi all

I am just about to start with handgun hunting.
I amused to shoot the 45 acp, 375, 44 mag and the 45 colt with heavy loads. Like a "soft" 454.

I will not be able to hunt here in europe with the gun, but will go to the US for hog, deer and so.

So, what cal to go with?
I am thinking a 45 colt with heavy loads, made more or less as a "mini" 454.

But, all help and input is good for me, I am new to it.

Thanks for looking

Cheers all

You can't go wrong with the .45 Colt in my opinion and loaded properly, you will be well served.

I agree, or the .44. forget the others. Don't look for top speed, just accuracy.
I am interested in where you are going to hunt.

I think it comes down to which one you shoot the best between the 44 and 45 Colt.

Hi and thank you for the help.

Well, then I will go for the 45 Colt, slow and heavy. Just as with my other guns.

I have not booked a hunt yet, but will look into a Arizona hunt, for javelina, predators and if I can a lion. But, nothing is booked yet.
Have to get the gun and the loads ready first.

Yeah, you are right -- better than running around in the AZ desert! Big Grin

Vegard, when are you coming to the US? Do you have to hunt in the southwest, or can you come to the southeast for a hunt?

I can't speak for all of the South, but I agree with the coors light = piss assessment. And remember, down here you can buy beer at just about any store, on any day of the week. None of that only at a liquor store and not on Sunday BS.

I wouldn't trade our bad beer for your gun laws!
