Hornady has a 500 grain bullet out for the 500 S&W? I haven't seen that yet.

I have a S&W 500 with 4" barrel that I reload and chronograph for. I am interested in chronograph results and loads other people have for both barrel lengths. 440 gr. Cast Performance 41 gr. 296 1500 fps. about max. 440 gr. Cast Performance 44 gr. 296 way too hot!! 500 gr. Hornady SP 37 gr. 296 1350 fps. Sticks! 375 gr. Barnes X 43 gr. 296 1550 fps. max. 350 gr. Hornady XTP 46 gr. 296 1560 fps. max. 400 gr. Sierra SP 42 gr. 296 1433 fps. max. One load which has proven extremely accurate is: 440 gr. Cast Performance 12 gr. Tite Group 960 fps. I have had poor luck with the Hornady 500 gr for accuracy so far, but all the other bullets did ok. I haven't fired nearly enough groups to know much yet. Let me know if you have chronograph results, or at least what sticks in your gun. Most of the loading info from the companies is for test barrels, not actual guns. Thanks.

Thanks for the info on the 515 cast bullet. I think the heavy cast bullets with something less than top velocity is hard to beat. Where are you getting your cast .500 bullets? What other loads have you used in either barrel length?
