I had just purchased this handgun this fall, it has been on several deer hunting trips. With it being the last week of the season I carried it more than my rifle. Seven Point I was setting in a permanent stand saturday morning and had not seen or heard anything. I decided to move at about 0730 and go to a spot that does not get hunted, as we pass by it all the time to go to other stands. I was slipping in to an open spot where I could see past some palmettos in some open hardwoods. I had put out a scent pad and just replaced the container in my pocket, while standing by a tree. When I look around here he comes by at 20yds., I draw my pistol from my crossdraw holster and get him sighted in. As I am tracking him in my scope he stops at 12yds from me and looks at me, I have not moved. He spooks and goes back to 24yds and is standing behind a palmetto with his head and neck above the pallmetto. I see he is standing broadside to me and I site in where I think behind his shoulder should be and touch off the 140gr Nosler Ballistic-tip. It hits him a little high, but he goes down without even a kick. I should have held a little lower, because I have it sighted in at 1.5" high at 100yds. It was a great way to end the season. He had an injury to his left shoulder, which I guess affected the antler growth. His shoulder looked like it had been broken prior to this year. John | ||
