Last year, I asked the question of what bullet type for hogs in .41 mag. Ended up using Underwood's 260 hardcast with excellent results. Now, I bought a Glock 10mm longside and installed a Lonewolf barrel just for hardcast. I am down to Underwood 220 hardcast, 200 JHP, and the 140 extreme penetrator. I am very intrigued by the 140 ep. I read the literature from Lehigh defense and would like to use if it, but would love some real world experience before I try it or any other relevant info from fellow members on the 10mm terminal ballistics on game.

DT, my suggestion would be to first find out what shoots best out of your gun. That is a pretty large spread in bullet weight. I found that the 200 gr. bullets shot best out of my 10mm (Witness Elite). Lighter bullet weights did not shoot well at all. Group sizes gave me a good idea of the range at which I would take a shot. Hogs are not exactly cape buffalo.
Just my 2 cents.

Are you shooting from a distance, or from up close? Some years ago, when our ranch had way too many feral hogs, my son and I would find a sounder, all their noses into the wind, walk up quietly behind them, even into them, and start making head shots with 10mms. At close distances, you don't need solids, but heavier bullets do penetrate best. From a distance, we'd use the best available weapon--a rifle.

What you are planning will be fun, but so is the close encounter.

We handgun hunters don't use rifles..... Big Grin

Shot a couple in Florida last year with a G20 loaded with Federal's 180 grain Trophy Bonded loads. Worked well. Double Tap has a complete line of 10mm ammo and most of it shot well out of the Glock, but the load I liked best was the 200 grain WFN.

I purchased one of the 10mm long-slides too and also thought about a new Lonewolf barrel for hardcast...but then I rethought it and decided to stay with the factory barrel and use Cor-Bon Hunter 180gr BCSP (bonded core soft point). 1300FPS with this bullet should be pretty darn good for shooting deer/hogs and still lend pretty good protection from black bears if needed. I doubt I will need anything more than this.

I finally shot each loading yesterday. The hardcast were by far the my accurate. The extreme penetrators did not group well out of my barrel. Going with the 220 hardcast. Will update after hunt.

Did the hunt this Saturday. Shot a 200ish pound boar at 30 yards. He ran from left to right. Got 5 rounds off. Happy with penetration of the hardcast, hog ran 20 yards and expired. Sausage for the year.

Just put a Glock 40 on layaway. I was so thrilled the Gen 4 fits my hands.
Cannot wait to put it to good use.
