Getting ready to start a new round of 45 Colt load development. My 54 yr old eyes got a new Merit Optical sight system for Xmas. Just wondering, what is your favorite paper target for iron sights?

Something that works pretty well,

A white 3x5 card stapled to a large piece of brown cardboard or brown shipping paper.

Black sights show up against both, white target contrasts with the black sights and bullet holes can be seen in either paper, unlike black bullseye targets.

Agreed, just don't have those handy around my neck of the woods.

I've always sighted in my Patridge sights for a six o'clock hold on a 1" dot [black or red] for handguns at 50 yds, and perhaps a 2" dot for rifle at 100 yds .
These dimensions can vary depending on your eyes.Front sight should never cover the target.
Last three deer have been taken this way !! Big Grin Big Grin

I bought a CD full of targets from Midway several years ago, it's called Click-n-Shoot.
It looks like Midway is no longer carrying it, but they have their own website now.
http://www.click-n-shoot.com/
They even have some free targets here.

What I would do is print one target then take it to a copy place and get 50 copies made to save on printer ink.

This is the one that I like for a scope.

This is the one I like for open sights

Yeah I bought that disc as well from Dillon. You're right,it will eat up your ink supply.Great variety of targets though. I like the game ones where you have to hit them in a certain sequence.Personally since I have a metal shop I take a piece of scrap w/ a duct tape X centered + put it on the backstop.Perks of the profession.

I've been a fan of paper plates with a dot in the center. I usually keep an array of colored sharpies in my range bag and usually just make a blob of orange or red in the center as aiming points.

I generally just draw a circle on something. Works great for practice but I have a hellofa time getting the deer to hold still while I draw the circle on em...... lol
