There are much better choices out there. I would not buy anything without adjustable sights for a hunting gun. I personally really like the Ruger Single Six, S&W 617, and if you're on a budget, the Taurus 94. They're all accurate, reliable, and durable. For shooting out treed coons, I really much prefer a scoped pistol. I can't seem to hit a critter way up in the top of a tree with an iron-sighted revolver every time. Squirrels are even tougher than coons for me, since they are quite a bit smaller. BTW, glad to see a fellow cur owner on th boards. I have two southern blackmouth curs that I mostly hunt coons with. They're great dogs!

Another vote for the Ruger Single Six. I picked up a used one in stainless a few years ago and really like it. Mostly killed paper with mine.

Crow 1, The S&W M17 (K22) is the way to go if you want accuracy! I have used them since 1967, and have found few hand guns that are as accurate or have a better trigger pull right out of the box. The only pistol that I have ever had that shot better is a T/C contender with the 14" Match barrel, and we both know that Contenders and more rifle without a butt stock than a pistol. There are several semi-auto pistols that are also very accurate but they are very expensive (S&W M41) and they are not as safe to carry in the field as a revolver. I know that I will catch some heat on that statement but this is what I have found over the years. The Ruger 22LR/22MAG pistols will shoot better with the Mags than they will with the 22LR. Remenber that the 22 Mag is a larger bullet than the LR. So what size bore do you think is in the Ruger? That is why they don't shoot as good with the LRs as they do with the MAGs. Again the S&W M17 is the way to go hands down!

Life is short; buy the best tools you can afford. I am happy with the Bisley Single Six, which also serves as an understudy to my Bisley Blackhawk. Good hunting!

mcb, my life would be shorter if I bought a Freedom Arms .22, K22, or a 41. The little woman would not appreciate the expenditure

I have two pre-mother may I Ruger Single six's. They do shoot okay, but I find the fixed sights hard to look at. I have much better luck with my Ruger MKII Stanless Target 6 7/8" model. My wifes Buckmark is just a tad more accurate then the MKII though. I was thinking about putting a scopemount on one of the single six's, but with them being 3 screw, maybe I should get a new one. I do have one question about the sigle six's. One of mine is marked 22 Magnum and has god inlay on all the lettering. It didn't have the mag cylinder when I got it. Could this have been a special edition something?

LAR, you might go to gunblasters.com as they have a link to the Rugers Collectors people and ask somebody over there.
