BBA and Hornady make ammo for both calibers... Thanks to the introduction of the 480 Ruger, the 475 caliber reloading supplies are more readily available than ever and you can count on more to come later.

I just started reloading for the .480. Speer also has factory loads for the .480 in 325 and 275 gr. My startup costs were: Dies (lee pistol) - $20.00 Brass (once fired) - 200 for $25.00 off ebay Primers (cci 350) $6.00 for 200 Powder (1lb of H110) $17.00 .480 shelholder for autoprime $3.00 .480 shellholder for casetrimmer $6.00 200 Speer Bullets at $11.00 per 50 (you pick 275, 325, 0r 400 gr) $44.00 So for 200 rounds I spent about $121 give or take ten dollars. That comes out to $.60 per round first time through. Second reloading will cost me $67 or $.33 per round. Factory is going for about $20 per 20 so it pays to reload this caliber. Also keep in mind that factory loads are sluggish and the reloading data I found from Speer shows almost 1700fps with the 275, 1500fps in the 325, and 1200fps with the 400. By the way, I absolutely love this caliber in my SRH. Recoil is not that bad as it feels more like a prolonged shove vs. a sharp kick. All bullet weights have also shown extremely good accuracy. I don't have a chrony so can't give you exact numbers on velocity. Good luck with what you decide. Take Care, Jeff
