If I wanted to put a small red dot sight on a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter revolver, what would be a good mount to use? Thinking of mounting a sight like a Leupold Deltapoint, probably on one of the barrel mount points.

Weigand has a new small no-drill, no-tap mount that I have been testing and am very happy with it. Here is a picture of my .45 Colt Bisley with that mount and an Ultradot L/T sight.

Sputster, I tried one of the clamp on mounts from B-square for my 41mag Blackhawk with a reddot site and it wouldn't hold zero because of recoil. I tried to tighten everything to the point of fear that I would destroy it but would have to re-zero every time I shot it. I then installed a Wiegand drill and tap mount and it is rock solid. The no-drill mount whitworth is using looks interesting though. I don't care if the top strap on my BH has holes in it because I will always have an optic on that revolver.

On the Hunter models, that puts the sight up front on the barrel, unlike a Super Redhawk. The option I posted puts the sight where the rear sight goes. I think it's a better option.

I guess what Lefteris posted was what I was asking about. But I can also see the value of mounting a dot sight over the frame like Whitworth mentioned, as I currently have an Ultradot 30 mounted over the barrel of my Bisley SBH Hunter. Having the good size tube over an already heavy barrel makes it even more muzzle heavy. Whitworth, I went to Weigand's website but am not sure I am looking at the same thing that is on your revolver. This was what I found, the Weig-a-tinny:
