Bronco, I am not too enthused with the group he shot since it was only 20 yds. I would maybe be happy with that at 100 yds. That is a decent off hand group for 50 yds.

I ran into this thread on another site. I just bought a Raging Bull 480 and love it so far. I would have considered the BFR but it was $350 more.

My .475 BFR will do around an 1" @ 25 yards off the bench (with both .475 Linebaugh and .480 Ruger loads). There's also an article on these guns posted to my website if you're interested.

MS, yes. I bought it last summer and made several molds for it. I killed two deer last season with it. Fantastic deer gun. One went 30 feet and the other went 30 yds. I use .44's, .45's and this one and grab a different revolver for each deer normally. I have been reading about tremendous accuracy with the .480 and want one.

Lee, my 45-70 BFR will not shoot off the bench no matter how I rest it. When I shoot Creedmore it will do an inch at 50 yds and I have no problem hitting at 200 even though I can't hold near as steady. Strange animal, that big beautiful hunk of steel. I only wish they made the .480 in 10".

Not to hijack the post, but have you killed anything with your bfr .45-70?

BFRShooter,

I think Magnum Research will do custom BFRs upon request. Give them a call and ask about a 10" .480 Ruger (I agree that it would be a neat gun).

Thanks,

Well have had mine a little over a month now and have not got to shoot as much as would like to (work go figure) But have tried 1 bullet Dry Creeks 400gr. SWC with H4227 and H110 in Hornady 475 cases also shot 2 boxes of Hornady 325gr 480 factories and the worst I have done is around 2" at 25yds. JD PBcaster@sixgunner forums also got one shortly after I did As referenced above we are both working on loads and emailing each other with range reports. John Taffin, Taffin Tests did an article on this pistol in the March/April issue of American Handgunner he was very impressed with his test gun this article can be found at Magnum Researches site along with his test loads. Hope this Helps
