unless ya got a good recipe for a 340 grain bullet that travels upwards of 1800fps by a maker that makes a malleable hardcast that expands a bit as dick thompson was talking about with some of his casting techniques. then things start getting very interesting. but very true, i typically don't run my cast up above 1500fps and very often just around 1300fps cuz they still kill and not on both ends. i will say, with the barnes loads i do notice a big diff in velocity when the bullets hit bigger game in the 400-1000lbs range. running double taps 454 barnes load out of an encore handgun with 14" barrel and you're creeping into the early 1900's level 375HH power level with a bigger frontal area. the results are quite nice. that said i've never killed anything with a 454 or a 475 that wouldn't have died too with a 44 mag.

At the risk of perpetuating this thread (!), the above comment is perhaps worth remembering. Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;
