Posted this on "Rimfires", but no one responded. Maybe you handgunners will have some info:
My sources indicate that the S & W Model 422 auto pistol (.22 LR) went out of production in 1996. I kind of like its configuration, and although I realize that the frame is alloy, I would like the weight for a casual plinker. Has anyone had experience with the 422 in regard to function, accuracy, and durability; and can anyone say what a nice one with adjustable sights is going for these days?

Howdy Stonecreek, I've got a 622 with a 6" bbl and my Bro-in-law has the 422 with the 4" Bbl, both with adjustable sights. Positively, all I can say about these is that they are light and they go bang. Trigger sucks, grip feels weird, accuracy is soso, so... why'd I buy it? I'm not sure, price was right, and I collect .22 handguns. Mine cost me $175(3-12 rd. clips, shooters' tackle box, gun case, and cleaning supplies) and the other was $125. Both were good deals according to the blue book. Anyway, my advice would be to buy a buckmark or Ruger Mk II and be happy. Gary
Naw, we just like guns with heavy triggers so the wind doesn't set 'em off. Jeremy did make a post several months ago commenting on the # of registered users from here. We just can't get enough of shooting and when the wind won't allow us to test new loads, we have to get a fix somewhere, this is a good place IMHO. Gary
