21.5gr H110, Mag primer, and a 250gr Keith bullet. Very accurate and has a lot of punch. What are you going to be hunting? Check out Hodgdon's web site for some real heavy hitting loads, they have totally redone the 44 mag load data, nothing to sneeze at.

This is the result from the load I quoted. It will work for anything but a really big bear, and if that was all I had, I would use it on him too.

Looks like I should have upped that load to 22.3 grains of H110.

Of course the favorite loads always depend on the game being played. For my target/practice loads I use 240 gr. hard cast SWC from Redline, sold at my local gun show. Powder of choice is 7.4 gr. of Alliant Bullseye for 1080 fps. For deer, blacktail, it is a 240 gr. Hornady XTP with which I have had wonderful results. Powder is 24.4 gr. of W296 with a heavy crimp at 1425 fps. This load is right a maximum and maybe a little too hot for some guns. Mine is a SRH so be careful. For elk it is a 310 gr. hard cast FN bullet from Liberty also sold at my local gun show. 19.8 gr. of W296 with a heavy crimp for about 1350 fps. My favorite all around load though is Federal's American Eagle, AE22. I use that in my Super 16 Contender with a Leupold scope. I shoot that one most of all [Big Grin] Slim

I use a ruger sbh with a 10 1/2" barrel ,my favorite load WAS 25.0 of H110 in front of speer and hornady 240 grain bullets with speer240 gold dots my favorite. Thats with cci mag primers. Velocitys averaged 1550 , actual readings were 1530-1580. Primers were somewhat flattened so i came down to 23.0 and found much better accuracy but havent put them through a chrony yet . Loads are also more comfortable on my wrist. Later Tanoose

My favorite 44 mag load is.....

Winchester brass
Nosler 240 JHP
24.5 grains of H110
CCI-350

I have worked this load up to 25.8 (as listed as max in Sierra's first edition reloading manual) but the are a lil stout on recoil in a 10" Contender. This load is extremely accurate in my gun and has accounted for numerous woodchucks and other such vermin. BTW, that 24.5 grain load took apart a red dot sight on the 39th round recently. [Wink]
