Can't use regular open sights worth a darn!I use scopes on all my single shots and scopes or red dots on revolvers except one. That one is a Ruger SBH Hunter with One Ragged Hole sight blade.Am 60 now and have been a bit myopic (nearsighted)for a long time now---I see the sights without glasses but don't want to shoot without eye protection and need correction for distance. A new set of progressive lenses has helped, but that ghost ring sight has helped a lot more. pg

I'm 55 years old, and while my eye doctor tells me I still have 20-20 vision I need reading glasses for things in arms length. The problem is I'm having a difficult time clearly seeing the sights on hand guns, but if I wear the readers so the sights are clear I can't see clearly past 5 feet.

This summer I had a Ruger Redhawk redone with a new Pac-Nor 6 1/2 inch barrel action work and a new set of Bowen rear sights. The smith and I talked about my eyes and he felt the answer was a thicker front post and wider rear slot which he did. The problem with that is it's so wide at distance that trying to shoot at 100 yards is tough, I'll get 3 in a cluster and then throw a couple. I'm shooting a 290 grain hard cast gas check at 1,350 ish that one holes at 25 yards so it's not the guns fault on the poor grouping. I used to be able to shoot 6 off a rest you could cover with your hand at 100, not any more.
This old guy thing sucks big time!
Any body out there reaching old fart status with any ideas?

I don't care for scopes on revolvers and I'm wondering if maybe a thinner post wouldn't work better than a thicker one? I have 2 Ruger .22 pistols set up with Bowens small game sight's that have a thin post and the wife and I shoot gophers with em at ranges you wouldn't believe if I told you, but that's a different deal. I use the .44 for big game and it needs to aquire faster possibly in brush etc and I'm just not sure which way to go. Any ideas or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
