a big enough Caliber to take on all North American species EXCEPT the Big bears (Polar, Brown and Grizzly). I just picked one up and would possibly look to use it on different hunts in North America. THanks so much in advance, W

Loaded properly, you can take all North American game. The .44 Mag cartridge has been used to take large bears. Larry Kelly took several large African animals with various .44 Mag revolvers. If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

With the right bullets. Yes. .454 would be better, but can get .44 in lower .454 power range with heavy, hard bullets. Larry Rogers

As my friends have stated above, loaded properly in the hands of someone who can shoot, the .44 Mag. is all a person needs for encounters out to about 85-100 yds. Those few who can do a hair better already know that.

With proper bullets in the hands of someone that can shoot reasonably well the 44 will indeed take all North American game. The 44 has done so numerous times including the big Bears _____________________________________________________ A 9mm may expand to a larger diameter, but a 45 ain't going to shrink Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened. - Winston Churchill
