Thinking of trying the BSA reddot on my encore handgun. Has anyone any experience with a reddot on a big handgun???

A friend of mine put a BSA on his AK-47.It did not last 10 shots.I would not waste my money.I am going to mount my optima 2000 on my encore. The leupold-gilmore is more expensive but it will handle recoil

Garfield,

I have Bushnell Red Dot on my Desert Eagle pistol in .50 AE. It is great at 25 yards, but for distance over this 25 yards I can advice you to take a scope. At my shooting range a guy with his T/C in 30/30 has put a scope on it, at 100 yars very accurate with this scope. The decision is up to you, depend on your shooting distance.

I agree at closer range the red dots work fine. They don't give you the same amount of accuraties at the longer ranges a scope does.

If you need to get on target fast,I'd go with the red-dot.I have the Ultra-Dot4 on my
480 srh,Haven't put it on paper at 100yds,but it rings the gongs at that distance consistently. They have a web-site.Gauranteed for life.I used a b-square mount.I just check the screws every now and then and I did use a small amount of loctite.

I got a Leupold/Gilmore Reddot scope I just pulled of my 454 Casull Encore that I will sell to you cheap. Had it on my Marlin Lever gun before that. I thought the scopes bad points outweighed the good ones, so now I'm looking for a good optical handgun scope.

I have used Aimpoint 5000's on my 454's with no problems over 1000's of full power shots. The 5000 allows the rings to be spaced out wider than the other Aimpoints for a more rugged mount.

I also have a collection of red dots that haven't survived a year on a 22LR.
